On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, the winners of the competition for the best doctoral dissertation using Statistica software were announced. The contest was organized by StatSoft Polska under the patronage of the Polish Statistical Society.

We are glad that the award went to Bartłomiej Tomasik, who defended his doctoral dissertation “Identification and utilization of circulating microRNAs in the monitoring of radiotherapy complications in patients with oropharyngeal carcinoma” in December 2019. This award was granted also to our Chief, Wojciech Fendler, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof., who was the Promotor of this work. Additionally, employees of the Medical University of Lodz will be able to take part in a course on working with the Statistica software.

The award granted by StatSoft Polska is special, because, in addition to the evaluation of the doctoral dissertation, it also appreciates the work of the Promotor who supervised the activities of the PhD student, and the University, which provided the necessary research facilities.

We are also pleased to announce that StatSoft Polska has been cooperating with the Medical University of Lodz for many years, providing access to the Statistica software and co-organizing five editions of postgraduate studies „Elements of empirical research methodology in medicine and application of statistics in biomedical research”.
