We are excited to announce our latest research, “Retrospective Comparative Analysis of Two Medical Evacuation Systems for Ukrainian Patients Affected by War,” led by Alexandra Mueller, MD, PhD, Aleksandra Oszer, MD, with support of our team PhD student Zuzanna Nowicka, MD, and prof. Wojciech Fendler, MD, together with team of international experts was published in the European Journal of Cancer (IF: 7.6)!
The study provides critical insights into the effectiveness of two medical evacuation systems implemented to support Ukrainian patients during the Russian-Ukraine conflict. The study compares the European Union’s Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) and the SAFER Ukraine collaborative, highlighting their respective strengths in evacuating patients with trauma-related injuries and children with cancer or blood disorders.
The findings emphasize the importance of coordinated efforts and rapid response in crisis situations, offering valuable lessons for future humanitarian interventions. We also underscore the need for harmonized medical evacuation strategies to better support vulnerable populations during armed conflicts.
