We are pleased to announce that Barbara Pernak, a third-year student of medicine, has just started the Individual Course of Study. The program of the two-year study that she will carry out during ITS was rated the highest among all this year’s projects.

As part of her scientific work, she will conduct a study entitled “The effect of intestinal villi atrophy on cholesin secretion and lipid profile in children with celiac disease” under the scientific supervision of Prof. Wojciech Fendler, MD, PhD. The project concerns a newly discovered hormone secreted by enterocytes, cholesin, affecting lipid metabolism and is the first attempt in the literature to characterize cholesin concentration in people with enterocyte dysfunction.

Congratulations and we look forward to the research findings!
