We are happy to share that we recently published an article in Hormone Research in Paediatrics entitled “Novel Protocol for the Use of Advanced Hybrid Closed-Loop System in Adolescents Engaged in Contact Sports.” Congratulations to the authors, including Jędrzej Chrzanowski, MD, our PhD student, and Arkadiusz Michalak, MD.

The article focuses on glucose control under demanding physical activity conditions while using automated insulin delivery systems (Medtronic 780G paired with continuous glucose monitoring). The study investigated an approach of disconnection of the insulin pump for the period of activity. Our approach allowed the sport camp participants to achieve excellent glycemic control, including increased time in a tight range (70-140mg/dL) without increased risk of hypoglycemia.
