We are pleased to announce that the laureate of this year’s edition of the Rector’s Special Award for Young Academic Teachers for outstanding research achievements in the form of an original publication published in 2024 was our PhD student, Aleksandra Ryk, M.Sc.! Congratulations!

Aleksandra Ryk, M.Sc., is a graduate from the University of Bristol the International Doctoral School of the Medical University of Łódź (currently awaiting reviews of her doctoral thesis and defense). For the last five years, she has been working in the Department of Biostatistics and Translational Medicine, currently employed as an academic teacher. In her research, she investigates the role of the newly discovered hormone cholesin and its significance in lipid metabolism. She is the principal investigator in projects funded by the NCN Preludium and Diabetes Poland.

The awarded manuscript, “Cholesin receptor signalling is active in cardiovascular system-associated adipose tissue and correlates with SGLT2i treatment in patients with diabetes.” was published in Cardiovascular Diabetology (MEiN Points – 140; IF – 8.5). The manuscript is available here.
