
Joanna Piwnik
Graduate of Mathematics (2016), specializing in Mathematical Modeling, and of the Engineering Studies in Technical Physics (2016) at Lodz University of Technology. As part of her professional development, Joanna completed postgraduate studies in Elements of Methodology of Empirical Research in Medicine and Applications of Statistics in Biomedical Research at the Medical University of Lodz (2018).
In 2025, she defended her doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics, University of Lodz, entitled Issues of Light Propagation in a Gravitational Field.
As a statistician, she has collaborated on several clinical studies, including cALL-POL, concerning the treatment of children with lymphoblastic leukemia; IDOLE, evaluating the effectiveness of cytisine in quitting electronic cigarette smoking; and BOOSTER, comparing two treatment regimens in relapsing nephrotic syndrome.
At the Department, she is responsible for statistical data analysis for scientific research and teaches courses for students of the Medical University of Lodz.
She pursues her interests in physics, mathematics, and statistics also as a science communicator at the EC1 Science and Technology Center. Additionally, she is a mother of three sons and a fitness instructor.
