We are excited to share that Dr. Monika Anna Golińska has been awarded the NCN “MSCA POLONEZ BIS 3” grant for her project titled “ENDOVO: Identifying biomarkers in endometriosis-associated ovarian cancer using photoacoustic imaging and data mining.” The project will be conducted at the Department of Biostatistics and Translational Medicine.
Endometriosis is a condition where uterine-lining tissue grows outside the uterine cavity, affecting the lives of many women. Dr. Golińska’s research focuses on finding biomarkers for early detection of endometriosis-associated ovarian cancer. The project involves:
- Investigating the interaction between endometriotic and ovarian cancer cells.
- Using photoacoustic imaging to study tumor vasculature in animal models.
- Validating imaging results by analyzing tumor tissue samples and assessing metabolic changes.
- Creating a comprehensive database by compiling endometriosis-related datasets and collaborating with hospitals.
This research will enhance our understanding of endometriosis and its impact on ovarian tumor evolution. The project aims to identify biomarkers for early diagnosis and improve women’s health. Congratulations to Dr. Monika Anna Golińska on this achievement, and we look forward to the outcomes of this valuable research.
