The 4th Łódź Researchers’ Night was a great opportunity to explore the fascinating world of science! Our exhibition, “Touch the Science – Endometriosis: From Specimen to Treatment,” prepared by Dr. Monika Golińska, Dr. Paulina Rusek-Wala, Aleksander Rycerz, M.D., Eng., Alicja Więcek, M.A., and Piotr Kulesza, Marta Kowalewska, and Vanessa Szczerbiec, attracted a great deal of interest, and visitors were able not only to gain new knowledge but, above all, to experiment on their own, explore, and test their skills.
Many attractions awaited the participants. They could collect and stain a cheek swab on their own and then find their own cells using a microscope in the prepared slide. In addition, participants had the opportunity to view prepared slides, including those showing endometriosis. That was a unique opportunity to see the fascinating world hidden within our bodies. The chance to try their hand at laparoscopy was also very popular; it allowed participants to see for themselves just how much precision, concentration, and dexterity are required when working with the instruments used during surgical procedures.
There was also plenty of discussion about health. Quizzes and discussions on endometriosis encouraged active participation, asking questions, and expanding knowledge about this condition. It was a space for exchanging information, addressing concerns, and raising awareness about an issue that affects many women.
Thank you to everyone who visited our exhibition for your tremendous interest and many thought-provoking questions! We’re glad we could explore the secrets of science together, showcase the practical side of medicine, and demonstrate that science can be not only a source of knowledge but also an inspiring adventure.
We’d also like to thank our colleagues for their dedication and for representing our Department so well during this event.
