In March, two training events organized by the European Association for the Study of Diabetes took place, with participation from our students and staff.

From March 16–20, 2026, in Oxford, our PhD student, Dr. Jędrzej Chrzanowski, took part in the EASD Robert Turner Training Course. Just a week later, on March 26–27, 2026, in Vienna, student Barbara Pernak and PhD student Dr. Arkadiusz Michalak attended the first edition of the EASD Immunology School, organized by the European Association for the Study of Diabetes.

We conclude the month with another participation by Dr. Chrzanowski, this time at the EASD Early Career Meeting in Düsseldorf, where he will present the results of his doctoral project “Dynamic epigenetic imprints of metabolic control in adolescents with type 1 diabetes” as an Oral Short Presentation. The results were generated as part of grants from the National Science Centre Preludium BIS 4 (2022/47/O/NZ5/00683) and the internal grant of the Medical University of Łódź “BRaIn P1”.

The EASD Immunology School was a unique training event that brought together specialists from across Europe around one of the most dynamically developing areas of diabetology—immunology of type 1 diabetes. The program, led by leading experts, not only helped to structure existing knowledge but also provided a broader perspective on future directions in diagnostics and therapy—from early disease detection, through staging, to disease-modifying therapies and the future of treatment using beta cells.

It was a month of intensive work, inspiring discussions, and exchange of experiences in an international environment!
