On Thursday, August 27, 2020, during the opening ceremony of the XXIII Congress of the Polish Society of Clinical Oncology (PTOK), diplomas were awarded to the winners of the competition for the best doctoral thesis defended in 2019.
We are pleased to announce that Bartłomiej Tomasik was among the three distinguished persons. He defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “Identification and utilization of circulating microRNAs in the monitoring of radiotherapy complications in patients with oropharyngeal carcinoma” in December 2019.
We also congratulate the other winners honored by PTOK who received awards for the following works:
Mateusz Spałek – Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology in Warsaw, for the thesis entitled “Influence of pre-operative radiotherapy on the pelvic area on the tolerance of subsequent chemotherapy in rectal cancer patients.”
Marcin Ostrowski – Medical University of Gdańsk, Department of Oncology, Thoracic Surgery Clinic, for the thesis entitled “Screening for lung cancer in high-risk cohort – the analysis of diagnosis, treatment and epidemiological aspects.”
We are also pleased to announce that Marcin Ostrowski is also an alumnus of the postgraduate studies „Elements of empirical research methodology in medicine and application of statistics in biomedical research” conducted at the Medical University of Lodz and initiated by our Chief – Wojciech Fendler, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof. and a longtime friend and mentor – Prof. Cezary Watała MD, PhD.
